Because each season presents different issues for a lawn, regular attention to a lawn is essential for maintaining its health. However, with a little planning and some work, these issues can be addressed to ensure a healthy, appealing lawn.

Factors that may influence how often a lawn needs care include temperature, rainfall, soil type, grass type, grass growth pace, seasonal consideration, foot traffic, and personal preference. For example, the height at which a lawn is cut can affect its health. Dry grass often needs to grow longer.  Wet grass often produces clumpy clippings which can cause dead spots.  Short lawns may suffer during a hot summer.
